I always use that "how would you feel" technique. I wouldn't want my teacher to do that. It's uncomfortable and it makes people stop speaking and start thinking of all those grammar rules and prepositions, while even when they are not perfect, people will still get the message.
Error correction is a huge issue. And I do use a lot of gesture-n-mime correction instead of saying "no, wrong". It's more comfortable and less painful, I think.
